I have been teaching Kindergarten for 23 years. My hands-on & active approach to learning helps Kindergarten students become more independent so that they can understand that learning is everywhere, and that learning it is a lot of fun! I enjoy nature and being outside, so I bring the outdoors into my classroom as much as possible, and I bring my students outdoors for learning as much as I can too.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education, and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Teaching Reading. I have mentored Chicago Public School Teachers since 2001. I facilitate standards-based instruction using a variety of interesting materials that engage Kinder-kids in their learning. Students in my classroom gain an understanding of what they need to know, and each have individual goals to meet.
I am proud to have received recognition and numerous grants for my instruction and classroom including the following:
2015 Golden Apple Nominee
